Last weekend was supposed to have been ’s opening week at the box office. However, the movie has been delayed to November 12 due to the coronavirus pandemic. With suddenly half a year to spare, fans have been wondering if director Cary Fukunaga has been using the extra time to do some more tinkering with the movie.

A fan asked the filmmaker on his Instagram about having extra time to polish No Time To Die.

To which, Fukunaga replied: “Some people have asked me this.

“And although more time would have been lovely, we had to put our pencils down when we finished our post-production window.

“Which was thankfully before COVID shut everything else down.”

So by the sounds of it, No Time To Die’s final edit had been locked down for the April release that never happened.

Nevertheless, the fan asked the director a follow-up question.

They said: “But aren’t you allowed to add some polish at a later moment?

“I mean your intention is to make the best Bond movie.”

They added: “So why not use such a delay to add some more polish?”

Fukunaga replied that it really came down to money and pointed out that one could edit a movie forever.

He wrote: “Short answer is money.

“And although Bond is a big movie, we still have to weigh cost with value.”

The director added: “And like anything, you could tinker endlessly.

“The movie is great as it is, hope y’all will feel same too when it comes out.”

This corroborates with the source of Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye from a couple of weeks ago.

The insider shut down rumours that No Time To Die was still unfinished.

The source said: “As with all films of this size there are things that you come across that might require a bit of re-shooting — but not here.

“It was finished. Perhaps there might have been a little spot of ADR [the industry term for rerecording dialogue].”

Nevertheless, Baz pointed out that even insiders are unsure of the new November release date for No Time To Die.

He wrote: “The big question no one can answer right now is whether come November, audiences will be comfortable going into crowded cinemas and theatres.”
