Judy Garland children: How old is Lorna Luft? How old is Liza Minnelli and Joey Luft?
Judy Garland’s life has been well documented in biographies and films over the years. Garland is often considered a tragic figure because of her own upbringing. But new biopic Judy tries to show how much Garland wanted her children to experience a different life.
Who are Judy Garland’s children and how old are they?
Judy Garland had three children, from two of her five marriages.
Her first child was Liza, who was born on March 12, 1946, to Garland and her then-husband, Vincente Minnelli.
She was born in Hollywood and was named after the Ira Gershwin song Liza (All the Clouds’ll Roll Away).

Liza went into stage and film work in her life, with her first performing experience being on film at the age of three, in the musical In the Good Old Summertime which features her mother.
At the age of 16, she moved to New York City to study at High School of Performing Arts and Chadwick School, beginning her professional career in 1963 in Off-Broadway.
She performed with her mother in various events, including at the London Palladium and on The Judy Garland Show.
Judy has a half-sister from her father’s second marriage, Tina Nina Minnelli.
Five years after Liza was born, Garland and Minnelli divorced, and a year later Garland married her third husband, Sidney Luft, in 1952.

That same year Garland gave birth to her second child, daughter Lorna Luft on November 21, 1952.
Luft was born in Santa Monica, California, and attend school in Los Angeles before moving to New York City to study theatre at HB studio.
The performer started in show business at the age of 11 singing in the 1963 Christmas special of her mother’s The Judy Garland Show, where she performed alongside Liza and her younger brother, Joey.
She and Joey also “shared” the bill with Garland in a month-long engagement at New York City’s Palace Theatre in 1967, before Garland went to London for the five-week gigs featured in new movie Judy.

Luft was just 17 when her mother died of an accidental overdose in London, but she went on to continue performing, mainly on stage and in television.
Joey Luft was born to Garland and her third husband Sid on March 29, 1955, in Los Angeles.
Less is known about Joey’s life since his mother’s death when he was 14-years-old.
He has not spoken much about her in the press and has done some performing of his own, though not to the same extent as his sisters.

He told Closer magazine in 2017: “There were times when my mum wasn’t acting right, so I’d ask my dad, ‘Is she sick?’ and he explained it all to me.
“It was exceptionally hard to deal with as a kid. I was powerless.
“She was a great person, but she had that addiction.”
He told the Los Angeles Times: “I don’t want to talk about the bad things – that isn’t what my mum was about.

“She was a performer. She was a mother. She loved people.
“She was the most caring person. She had the greatest sense of humour.”
After Garland divorced Luft in 1965, she married Mark Herron in 1965 until 1969, divorcing him to marry her final husband Mickey Deans in 1969.
She died shortly after marrying Deans, as he found her in their London apartment on June 22, 1969.
Judy is in cinemas on October 4
