LeBron James: Lakers star will win MVP and scoring title because of one reason – Bayless

That is the view of American pundit Skip Bayless.

James posted a video on his Instagram page of him scoring an almost-impossible three-pointer in training.

In the video, the superstar unleashed a shot from deep whilst running away from the basket, leaving Lakers fans itching for the chance to see their new star on the court.

However, Bayless believes that this video shows James will take a more relaxed view of the sport ahead of the coming season.

He explained that, with the Lakers looking an extreme outside bet to win the Championship, nothing is expected of James, and that will play into his hands.

“This will be the first year in his 16-year career that he has no pressure to compete for a championship,” Bayless said.

“If this team, worst-case scenario misses the play-offs, will anybody really care?”

Bayless went on to note that James is the face of the franchise, and that there is nobody to help him that is close to his level of ability.

“I don’t think they will care, because obviously LeBron has no co-star,” Bayless explained.

“He has no second star, he has no third star.

“There’s no Kyrie or Kevin Love, there’s obviously no Wade or Chris Bosh, this guy is with a bunch of kids and cast-offs.”

The pundit predicted that the lack of co-star will lead to James being more relaxed on court, and that will be emphasised by the plays he makes.

“This is the perfect example of LeBron being able to take a year off,” Bayless said.

“He has no championship pressure or play-off pressure, LeBron James will win the MVP this year because he’ll win the scoring title with a bunch of kids and cast-offs.

“This will be LeBron’s year to be a solo star on pretty much a solo stage in Hollywood.

“I don’t begrudge him that because he’s been to eight straight finals, been under a lot of pressure, but that shot on Instagram shows he will be able to do whatever he wants, whenever he wants, because there’s no pressure.

“I think he’s going to put on the show of all Hollywood shows.”
