Marvel at San Diego Comic Con: SDCC panel time, stream info, movie announcement rumours

The release of Avengers Endgame in April effectively concluded the Marvel Infinity Saga, with this month’s Spider-Man: Far From Home providing a tasty epilogue.

Now, release dates for future MCU blockbusters are out in the open – but the specific movies that will occupy those slots have yet to be confirmed.

It’s no secret that the likes of Thor 4 and Black Widow are coming up, but still – remarkably – Marvel has not technically announced them.

So will all finally be revealed in San Diego?

The San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) event all Marvel fans need to pay attention to is the Hall H session at 5:15pm Pacific time tomorrow (Saturday, July 20).

For those in the UK, that’s overnight: it’ll be happening at 1:15am.

Sadly, it will not be livestreamed online, but you can bet that clips will make their way onto the internet sooner rather than later.

The next Marvel release slot is May 1, 2020; with another on November 6, and then three movies in 2021 – on February 12, May 5 and November 5.

Three release slots have also been set aside in 2022: on February 18, May 6 and July 29.

So what will fill those spaces?

Black Widow is a safe bet for the first one, given that it’s already in production. The Eternals and Shang-Chi are also allegedly being given the speedy priority treatment.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is known to be in development further down the line, and Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Captain Marvel and Spider-Man are all due new solo movies at some stage.

Whether or not all eight vacant slots will be announced at the weekend remains to be seen, but the wait to find out what exactly the almighty studio have up their sleeve will be over very soon.

What will also be interesting to gauge is how immediately the MCU plans to integrate characters acquired from the recent Fox deal: characters such as the X-Men, Deadpool and Fantastic Four.

Currently the Marvel franchise is responsible for $22 billion at the global box office, and earned its first Best Picture Oscar nomination this year thanks to Black Panther.
