Melania Trump South Korea style: Is First Lady’s purple coat fashion hit or miss?

Melania Trump, 47, and Donald Trump, 71, touched down in Osan, outside of Seoul just a few hours ago. 

South Korea is another key ally in the struggle with nuclear-armed North Korea, but one with deep reservations about the US President’s strategy for dealing with the crisis. 

As they stepped off the plane, Melania was wearing a midi-length plum-coloured coat with a zip fastening on the front. 

The coat featured a waistband, which pinched in the First Lady’s waist, but it also had puff sleeves, which may leave fans divided. 

Melania completed the look with thick-framed brown sunglasses and a pair of blue stiletto heels. 

Coincidentally these matched with her husband Donald’s tie. 

The pair flew in from Tokyo – Japan was the first stop on their tour of Asia. 

The US President is set to meet with President Moon Jae-in, US troops and local politicians. 

Trump and Melania will only be spending around 24 hours in South Korea but the trip’s aim is to strengthen the military alliance that has long protected South Korea. 

The threat posed by North Korea’s development of nuclear weapons and long-rang missiles has been a top foreign policy priority for the Trump administration. 

Seoul is in range of North Korean artillery, and experts believe if a Korean war were to resume the city would see thousand of people killed in the first hours. 

It is reported President Moon Jae-in will be looking to Trump for reassurance the two countries are in this together. 

Just yesterday, Trump and Melania were in Japan, kicking off the start of their Asia tour. 

As well as meeting with the Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, they were welcomed by Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko. 

Meeting with the Japanese Empreror and Empress, Melania wore a navy midi length dress which revealed a flash of ankle. 

It featured angel sleeves, a skinny belt which cinched in her waist and the skirt had a slight flare.
