Michael Schumacher update: F1 champion to undergo 'secret treatment' at Paris hospital
Michael Schumacher is undergoing secret stem-cell treatment after being admitted to a hospital in Paris, according to French reports. The seven-time Formula One world champion has not been seen in public since a skiing accident in the French Alps in 2013. Le Parisien broke the news that Schumacher had been admitted to the Pompidou hospital in southwest Paris on Monday afternoon.
The Paris hospitals department, contacted by AFP, refused to confirm or deny the news citing medical privacy laws.
The former Ferrari driver is set to undergo treatment based on stem-cell transfusion by French surgeon Philippe Menasche.
Schumacher will receive stem cells to obtain an anti-inflammatory effect throughout his system, according to Le Parisien.

Dr Menasche is described as a “pioneer in cell surgery against heart failure”.
Le Parisen added that the former Ferrari star has already been treated there twice this spring.
Schumacher, who turned 50 in January, was left with severe head injuries following the 2013 skiing accident.

He had to be placed in a medically-induced coma for a number of months.
Following the injury, his doctors said he was fortunate to be alive.

Earlier this year, his former Ferrari boss, Jean Todt, revealed he had been to visit Schumacher at his home, claiming the pair had even watched F1 together.
Mr Todt said: “I’m always careful with such statements, but it’s true. I saw the race together with Michael Schumacher at his home in Switzerland.
“Michael is in the best hands and is well looked after in his house. He does not give up and keeps fighting.”
However Todt, now head of the FIA, also stated that Schumacher struggles to communicate.
