Michelle Obama flashback: Former-FLOTUS reveals moment she felt 'overwhelmed'

The former FLOTUS has been offering advice to first-year college students as part of a new YouTube series entitled ‘Reach Higher’. In the video, Michelle Obama opens up to prospected students on how “overwhelmed” she felt when her dad dropped her to college for the first time. She says: “When my dad dropped me off at college, I remember feeling overwhelmed. And I have a feeling that some of you might know what I’m talking about.

“You’re not the only ones. That’s why I’m so glad that my Reach Higher initiative has teamed up with YouTube Originals and NowThis to create a crash course on how to succeed in the months ahead.

“They’re going to teach you everything from how to manage your time and money to the importance of finding a mentor and peers to help you along the way.

“You’ll hear from experts and recent grads about personal wellness and terms and concepts that will be helpful to know during class.

“And most importantly, it will help you take advantage of all those skills that you already have.

“The skills you gained by overcoming obstacles on your path to today. I can’t wait to see what you do in the years ahead.”

According to Newsweek, in 2014, Michelle shared another YouTube video – which this time reviewed her struggles at picking a class.

She also revealed she had difficulties finding her classroom and how to furnish her dorm.

She said: “At first I even worried that maybe I wasn’t as smart as some of my classmates but soon enough I realised that was all in my head.
