North Korea ALERT: Kim Jong-Un 'oversees successful test of GROUNDBREAKING new weapon'
Kim Jong-Un oversaw the first public test of the weapon according to the secretive country’s state media, Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). Although it is yet unknown what the weapon is, or indeed if it exists at all, the supposed successful test could spell a worrying development in relations with the western world and North Korea. The KCNA announced that the weapon has a “powerful warhead” in what is a huge development for the country’s military arsenal.
Speaking following the test, Kim said: “The completion of the development of the weapon system serves as an event of very weighty significance in increasing the combat power of the North Korean army.”
The latest development comes after Kim had overseen a test of an unidentified “tactical weapon” in November.
Last year, Kim had announced the country would stop nuclear tests and launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles as its nuclear capabilities had been “verified”.
This latest test is North Korea’s first since an unsuccessful summit on denuclearisation with the US last February.

North Korea had announced it would halt tests on nuclear weapons after Donald Trump issued a bold warning the US would bring “fire and fury” upon the nation.
Despite that threat, North Korea has already made significant progress on its military arsenal.
Responding to the report a US official said, according to initial information, US Northern Command and Strategic Command did not detect a missile launch from North Korea and further checks were underway.
A White House official said: “We are aware of the report and have no further comment.”
Spokesman Army Lieutenant Colonel Dave Eastburn said the Pentagon was also aware of the report. There was no immediate response to a request for comment from the US State Department.
Earlier this year the North Korean leader visited the North Korean Air and Anti-aircraft Force on Tuesday expressing “great satisfaction” at their combat readiness.

Furthermore, according to CNN the US was planning to send its special representative for North Korea to Moscow.
The move comes as reports had speculated Kim Jong-Un was planning to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in the near future.
Kim met Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov last year, days before the North Korean leader travelled to Singapore to meet US President Donald Trump
The rumoured meeting between the two leaders also follows the emergence of satellite images from last week showing movement at North Korea’s main nuclear site.
