Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is Quentin Tarantino’s ninth film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt as Rick Dalton, a star who is watching his career decline, and Rick’s stuntman, Cliff Booth. The pair try to take the Dream Factory by storm, only to become connected with the Manson family and the fate of star Sharon Tate, played by Margot Robbie.

How much has Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time in Hollywood made at the box office?

Needless to say, the film has been a runaway success, and it looks to be one of Tarantino’s best performing films in its opening weekend.

Worldwide, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood has grossed approximately $122.1million (£100.6million) making an incredible $41million (£39million) in its opening weekend in the USA.

In the UK, it is estimated Once Upon A Time in Hollywood made £2.4million in its first two days, which is not to be sniffed as this could place it among Tarantino’s top earning films.

The top earner was Inglourious Basterds, which made around £3.6million in the UK across three days, but as Once Upon A Time in Hollywood has a five day opening weekend, it is set to exceed its predecessor.

What is Once Upon A Time in Hollywood about?

Once Upon A Time in Hollywood follows Rick Dalton and Brad Pitt as they try to improve their status in Hollywood – though it leads to Rick being forced to take on roles in his least favourite genre – Spaghetti Westerns.

Meanwhile, we also follow Sharon Tate, who is living her best Hollywood life with her husband Roman Polanski, friend and former lover Jay Sebring, and celebrity mates such as Mama Cass of The Mamas and The Papas.

But as we know from history, things may not end happily or her, as the infamous Manson family are circling.

As many will remember, Sharon, along Jay and three others were murdered in their home by the Manson family, on direct instructions from a disgruntled Charles Manson.

The murderer is depicted in the film, albeit briefly, by Damon Herriman, who also plays the killer in Netflix’s Mindhunter.

As in many Tarantino films, the two storylines merge with some epic consequences.
