Royal wedding: Will Meghan Markle break tradition with trademark 'messy bun' on big day?
Meghan Markle, 36, will marry Prince Harry, 33, on May 19 2018, but how will she style her hair for the royal wedding?
The LA born actress has traditionally favoured a messy bun look, which she has worn for a number of public appearances.
This breaks a royal hair tradition maintained by everyone from the Queen to Princess Diana and Kate Middleton, whereby royals wear their hair in a neat, sleek style.
Meghan’s natural hair is also much curlier, but she appears to straighten in to create a wavier texture.
Will she throw out the royal rule book when it comes to her hair on the day of her nuptials?
Yes, according to hairdresser Patrick Cameron, a global ambassador for Wella, who thinks Meghan will wears a wedding appropriate version of her messy bun on the day.
He said: “Meghan Markle’s style is simple yet elegant and beautifully understated which is likely to be reflected in her hairstyle as she ties the knot.”
“Her hair is likely to be tied at the nape of her neck into a stunning chignon shape with loose tendrils of hair framing her face underneath her veil.”
He also believes Meghan will wear a tiara atop the messy bun, to mark her entrance into royalty.
“I think Meghan will follow tradition and wear a tiara which will sit beautifully with this style.”
Neville Tucker, owner of Neville Hair and Beauty, the ex husband of Amanda Cook Tucker, Kate Middleton’s hairdresser, disagrees.
Instead, he believes Meghan will go for an elegant up do on the big day at St. George’s Chapel.
He said: “Funnily enough I think that Meghan will not have go for her usual messy bun trademark. Although I can picture her with an updo, I think that for her big day she will have a more polished look.
“I think Meghan will opt for an understated updo for a delicate and elegant effect. Due to Meghan’s petite facial features, an elegant up do would look sensational on her.
“Meghan has a beautiful neck and I can picture her wearing it pinned back as she usual does but with a soft polished finish.”
Last week, it was revealed why Meghan Markle won’t have Kate Middleton as her maid of honour.
Meghan’s future sister in law Kate might have seemed a promising choice – after all, Kate and Meghan are said to be friends.
However, an expert has said it is not possible for Kate to be Meghan’s maid of honour on her special day.
The sight of the Duchess of Cambridge filling the maid of honour rule would be “unbecoming”, said William Hanson, a British etiquette expert.
“It’s unbecoming for a member of the royal family to walk behind a commoner,” he said, given Kate’s higher status than Meghan at present.
