Shaun Ryder: Why does he look so different? Star opens up about his changing appearance
Shaun Ryder is well-known by many for being the lead singer of the band, Happy Mondays. The star is also known by many for taking part on the tenth series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, where he was the runner up. Shaun recently took part in the celebrity version of Gogglebox with his bandmate, Bez, and fans were quick to point out his new look. Shaun opened up to Good Morning Britain and Radio X to explain the reason behind why he looks different.
During an episode of Celebrity Gogglebox last month, some people noticed his new look.
Fans headed to Twitter to comment on Shaun’s new look and speculate on what had caused it.
One fan said: “Watching #gogglebox and wondering what’s with Shaun Ryder. He looks very unwell.”
The singer revealed what has caused this change in a interview on the daytime TV show, Good Morning Britain.
He said: “I’ve just had a new hip, and at the same time all my body hair decides to fall out.
“No eyelashes, no fingernails, no head, no hair whatsoever. We don’t really know.
“Because I have an underactive thyroid that makes you put on weight and slow down, they thought it might have been linked to that or the fact I don’t produce testosterone anymore.”
Shaun also told the presenters that doctors were unsure what had caused the condition and said he was told it may have been caused by stress.
He said: “They thought it might be linked to that. Now it doesn’t look like that.
“They said it might be stress related, but I’m the least stressed I’ve ever been in my life, so they’ve got a lot more experimenting on me to find out.”
When Shaun appeared on The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X, he told the host his condition was an “alopecia thing”.
Shaun was among the many stars who recently took part in this series of Celebrity Gogglebox.
The former professional British boxer, Chris Eubank, 52, took part on the show with his son, Chris Eubank Jr.
The star first began boxing when he was just 16-years-old and continued training until he became a champion boxer in his own right.
By the time he retired, he had won 45 fights and lost just five.
Despite all his success, he is believed to have a net worth of just £393,000, which is lower than many people would expect.
The TV chef, Nigella Lawson, also featured on the show and the star recently revealed what she did to slim down.
