Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2018: Christie Brinkley’s daughter Sailor models in a bikini
Christie Brinkley, 64, is the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model known for her marriage to singer Billy Joel.
The very successful model famously appeared in his Uptown Girl music video in 1983.
Originally from Los Angeles, California, the model – who is worth $102 million, or £73m – has three children, Alexa Ray Joel, 32, Jack Paris Taubman, 22, and Sailor Lee Brinkley Cook, 19.
Both her daughters appeared with their mother in last year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue with their mother.
Now Sailor is in this year’s ‘Rookie Class’, although she missed out on winning Rookie of the Year to Instagram-famous nude model Alexis Ren.
She told SI this year: “I’m excited for girls that look like me, and don’t have huge boobs and a huge butt, to see me and think, ‘Maybe girls that have B-cups can be in Sports Illustrated.’”
She also admitted to the magazine that she looked to her mother for advice when it came to her shoot.
She said: “I thought I didn’t need any advice from my mom. I’m very stubborn. But then I got to my rookie shoot in Aruba, and I called her the moment I got there, and I said I do need your advice. She said, have fun with it, don’t be stiff.”
Sailor, who told the magazine she has aspirations to be a comedian before realising she is “not that funny”, posed for the magazine in a gold sequin bikini.
Sailor lives in New York most of the year, and has studied at Parsons School of Design in the city.
The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue is a yearly institution, which has ran annually since 1964.
The issue focusses on picturing attractive models in skimpy swimming costumes for its mainly male readership.
It was devised as a way to bid sales during a month that is generally a slow news month in the sporting world.
However, the issue took off and it is now a platform to celebrate some of the world’s most famous lingerie and fitness models, as well as newcomers to the industry.
Sometimes the sport’s magazines swimsuit issue features actual sportswomen, although mainly photogenic ones such as Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova and Eugenie Bouchard.
