Star Wars 9: Kylo Ren for THIS incredible moment in Rise of Skywalker? Fans would love it

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is in cinemas in December, and still very little is known about its actual plot.

One of the big points of speculation among fans of the franchise is Kylo Ren’s ending: will he redeemed? Can he be redeemed? Or will he go out in a blaze of evil?

A new theory on Reddit’s Star Wars Speculation has suggested one very exciting image, and it’s been 92% Upvoted by readers.

User u/OldString’s post wants Kylo and Rey to team up to defeat the Big Bad – presumably a resurrected Palpatine/Sidious – with one very important detail.

“Kylo Ren will obtain and use Luke’s green lightsaber alongside Rey and the blue lightsaber in [The Rise of Skywalker],” they said.

“It will mark his redemption and return as Ben Solo as they both fight together at the end against Sidious and/or his forces.

“Mirroring Luke’s final appearance in the [original trilogy], the brilliant emerald blade will contrast against Kylo’s black attire.

“A tribute to Luke Skywalker and a sign that Kylo may finally forgive and even respect him.”

One user replied: “Not gonna lie, it’d be cool as s*** to see a redeemed Kylo with Luke’s green saber.”

Another wrote: “This is one thing I’m truly hoping for.

“R2 ejects it to Ben, he hesitates, as he has bad blood with the saber, overcomes his fear and then proceeds to kick some Sith ass.”

Someone else snowballed: “So much yes. I’d be OK with Kylo having the green or the blue one. Possible scenes:

“Rey destroys Kylo’s red lightsaber in a fight. Palpatine destroys Kylo’s red lightsaber…

“Then at a critical moment, Rey, in an homage to TLJ’s throne room fight, tosses Anakin’s sabre to Kylo.

“Force ghosts Anakin, Yoda, Luke, Qui Gonn, and Obi Wan show up behind him as he faces Palpatine. Rey then draws Luke’s green sabre and joins Kylo.”

Whatever happens, the conclusion to the trilogy – and the conclusion to the entire nine-movie saga – promises to be an epic farewell.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is out on December 19.
