Star Wars trailer: Rey TRAINED by Princess Leia ahead of Rise of Skywalker battle

Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker’s final trailer shows Rey (played by Daisy Ridley) continuing her Jedi training in a leafy jungle.

One clip of the abundance of teasers and hints dropped in the trailer sees her leaping across a ravine in the forest.

Later in the video, Rey comes face-to-face with Star Wars favourite Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) and the pair share an emotional embrace.

Eagle-eyed fans will notice the surroundings, however, which appear to be similar to those where Rey was training earlier in the trailer.

It seems as though, following Luke’s (Mark Hamill) death at the end of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Leia has taken up the mantle of trainer to young Jedi Rey.

Elsewhere in the new Star Wars trailer, Rey and Kylo Ren’s (Adam Driver) tumultuous relationship continues as the pair are seen facing off, the former’s lightsaber drawn, on a derelict ship.

A potential mislead, however, later shows them looking to come together to destroy Darth Vader’s helmet.

The dramatic moment has Kylo slashing at the helmet with his lightsaber, while Rey synchronises with him, swiping through the air with what could be the Sith dagger in her other hand.

Some fans have theorised the blade will be discovered by Rey at some point in Rise of Skywalker but that she will need C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) to translate the ancient writing on it.

To do this, some believe the group will need to reprogram C-3PO, which would explain the clips of him with red eyes.

The last trailer showed C-3PO’s eyes glowing bright red, while the new one seems to give some context, with alien droidsmith Babu Frik doing some work to the back of his head.

Moments later, C-3PO is seen telling Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), Rey, Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo), Finn (John Boyega) and BB-8 (Dave Chapman) that he is “taking one last look at his friends”.

Could this be the beloved droid’s final farewell before having his programming altered?

Speculation is rife it the move could signal the end of the road for C-3PO, with fears he might be irrevocably damaged somewhere in the process.
