The Simpsons MOVIE 2: Showrunner shares EXCITING update with fans
The longest-running American scripted primetime TV show has been on our screens since 1989. But do you remember when The Simpsons Movie hit cinemas 13 years ago? Well now that Disney has bought Fox, it looks like a sequel is on the way.
The Simpsons Movie 2 is likely to happen, but not for a while, according to producer Al Jean.
Speaking with Slash Film, he said: “I would say yes although we’re just in the very, very early stages.
“We would love to do one for Disney but it’s not like it’s happening next week or next year.
“At D23 Matt said, ‘I think it’s gonna happen’ and I agree with that.”
Meanwhile, all 30 seasons of The Simpsons are on Disney Plus in the US, but will not be coming to the streaming service in the UK until at least 2021.
Sadly for British fans, the cartoon sitcom’s rights are still tied up with Sky One.
Interviewed on BBC 5 Live, Sky’s Managing Director of Content Zai Bennent spoke of how Disney Plus’s launch will affect Sky.
Scott Bryan tweeted: “For the immediate term, for the next year or so, our customers will not notice any difference at all to what they have got. Simpsons is on Sky. Absolutely.”
