Thor Ragnarok: Mark Ruffalo worried they were ‘DESTROYING’ Hulk and Thor – Here's why
Thor: The Dark World is often considered one of the worst MCU movies, so it’s unsurprising that Chris Hemsworth wanted a total overhaul of his Avenger for the third solo outing. Taking on board quirky director Taika Waititi, Thor Ragnarok was quite the turnaround for the Asgardian prince and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk. Ditching the dark dreariness of its predecessor, Ragnarok was full of colour, zaniness and a lot of improvisational comedy. What was a big risk for Marvel Studios turned out to be what is now considered one of the best-loved movies in the franchise.
However, during filming, it turns out that some of the stars had their doubts about the radical change for Thor.
Speaking at Ace Comic-Con in Chicago last weekend, Hemsworth admitted that both Ruffalo and Valkyrie star Tessa Thompson had some concerns.
The Aussie star said: “I remember Mark Ruffalo looking at me and saying, ‘Are we wrecking this movie? Are we destroying these characters?’
“Tessa was like, ‘What am I a part of? What am I doing,’”
Well lucky for them it was worth the risk as Thor 4 is arriving in just two years time.
This is a landmark for the franchise considering that neither Iron Man or Captain America – arguably more important MCU characters than Thor – were given a fourth solo outing.
Called Thor Love and Thunder, the sequel reunites Hemsworth and Thompson with director Waititi.
While Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster, who didn’t feature in Thor Ragnarok, will play the Mighty Thor.
Earlier this week Waititi also confirmed that his comic character Korg would be back after a cameo in Avengers Endgame.
The 44-year-old told Jimmy Kimmel the news saying: “My character is coming back, Korg.”
The audience cheered and he thanked them in the Kronan’s voice, adding: “Thank you. Thank you so much for that reaction.”
Loki may have died at the start of Avengers Infinity War, but his alternate 2012 self managed to escape capture on Earth thanks to the Tesseract.
This version of the god of mischief will star in his very own Disney Plus show called Loki, prior to Thor Love and Thunder’s release.
Allegedly, he will time travel somehow and end up arriving for the film, with Mjolnir no less.
Surely the multiverse is involved somehow?
Loki streams of Disney Plus in Spring 2021, while Thor: Love and Thunder is released on November 5, 2021.
