UFC News: Conor McGregor fight rumour KO’d, Nick Diaz’s return hint, Rogan on Jones
Conor McGregor fight rumour dismissed by Dana White
UFC president Dana White has dismissed a report claiming Conor McGregor will rematch Floyd Mayweather in a mixed martial arts bout.
On Monday night, the chief editor of The Sports Journal in Dubai, Omar Al Raisi, tweeted that McGregor vs Mayweather 2 would take place inside the Octagon but under modified rules, which wouldn’t permit kicks, knees, elbows or takedowns.
The rumour soon came to White’s attention and he emphatically shut it down on Twitter.
In response to one of his follower’s questions about the proposed match-up, the UFC chief tweeted: “None of that is even close to true. Dumbest s**t I have ever heard.”
“And then all of his problems sort of just forced him to be himself and then people were like, ‘We like you more now!’ And then he winds up testing positive for something else.
“Which I believe him (when he says) it was accidental. I believe it was accidental because in this case, it doesn’t make any sense any other way.
“Because if you look at how he tested positive and what he tested positive for and recently he tested negative before that and how recently after he tested negative, you’re talking about something that is such a minuscule trace amount there’s no way you could consider taking something like that and having it have some sort of a positive performance-enhancing effect.”
