It will be a tale of two halves according to Met Office Meteorologist Ellie Creed, as the north of the UK will face heavy wind and rain for much of Sunday. Down in the south, however, it will be “largely dry” with patches of sunshine. While many areas of the south will see temperatures hitting the mid-teens, the north of England and Scotland will feel fairly cold especially during the early part of the morning.

Ms Creed said: “In the far north temperatures will feel pretty cold in the early part of this morning.

“If we continue through the rest of Sunday morning blustery showers continue to rattle their way across parts of Scotland.

“Those showers could even provide snow over the hills.”

While the band of heavy weather continues to cover Scotland and north of England, yesterday’s cloudy weather will depart from the south.

In its wake, it will leave “plenty of sunshine” across England and Wales as we go into mid afternoon.

Ms Creed also confirmed that temperatures in the south will hit as high as 14C although the south west will see the best sunshine of the day.

Unfortunately, there will be more rain in the northwest and Scotland as showers will continue.

Due to the sustained barrage of cold weather in Scotland, Ms Creed once again warned of potential snow.

Although conditions in Scotland will approach double digits, due to the conditions it will feel much colder.

Going into next week the weather will continue to be fairly bright and sunny for much of England with London seeing temperatures around 12C on Monday.

As Ms Creed concluded: “As we head into Monday we will see more in the way of sunshine particularly for England and Wales.

“But for western Scotland and Northern Ireland the weather will tend to stay on the cloudy side with the potential of some rain.”
