Venom end credits scene explained: How many end credit scenes are there?

Venom is moving swiftly towards the record currently held by Gravity for the highest grossing opening weekend in October.

Tom Hardy stars as the anti-hero/journalist Eddie Brock, a long time favourite amongst comic fans who have waited expectantly for a feature film.

Despite the mixed critical response, Venom is performing exceptionally well commercially and will likely see sequels down the line.

Venom was the first in what many expect to be a long line of Marvel-based movies from Sony.

How many end credits scenes does Venom have?

To be pedantic, Venom has one end credits scene and one mid-credits scene.

Fans willing to stick around through the whole of the credits are treated to a glimpse at the upcoming Into The Spider-Verse animated movie.

The scene begins with the caption: “Meanwhile, in another universe…”

VENOM MID-CREDIT SCENE: WHO IS CARNAGE?

The clip of never before seen footage shows Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore) being pursued by a classic Spider-Man villain, the Prowler.

Miles winds up causing a traffic accident and loses the Prowler in the ensuing confusion.

He ends up in a snow-covered graveyard, paying his respects to the presumed dead Peter Parker, aka the original Spider-Man.

Forlorn, Miles says: “I’m sorry Mr Parker, I wanna do what you asked. I really do. But I can’t do this without you.”

Miles is then tapped on the shoulder, and before he can take in who has joined him in the cemetery, he blasts the stranger and knocks him out cold.

But the stranger is none other than Peter Parker himself.

The clip follows them as they try to evade the, understandably confused, cops.

Their escape is fast-paced, slightly haphazard, and endearingly clumsy as they finally land on a walkway amongst a group of passers-by.

For those more concerned with Venom sequels, the mid-credits scene is what you’re waiting for.

The mid-credit scene starts where the movie left off, with Eddie back on the up as a journalist.

Though he still houses the symbiote inside him, they have come to a far more amicable relationship – and continue to engage in their own banter inside Eddie’s head.

Brock is on his way to visit a notorious killer at San Quentin prison, where he has been given the chance to conduct an interview with the reclusive maniac.

The killer is Cletus Kasady, portrayed by Woody Harrelson whose hair has been dyed red and curled to match the comic book version.

Kasady can be seen writing his name in what audiences can only presume is his own blood, a haunting enough sight.

But then Kasady closes out the scene by saying: “When I get out of here, and I will, there’s gonna be carnage.”

Carnage is a villain in the Spider-Man universe, who comes to be when a bit of Brock’s symbiote is left behind and bonds with Kasady.

Harrelson himself tipped his hand about the Venom sequel when he was interviewed by Collider over the summer.

With Venom’s success financially, it seems all the more likely Harrelson’s Carnage will get a chance to wreak some havoc.
