Fantastic Beasts 2 release date: When is The Crimes of Grindelwald out in the UK and USA?

Fans of the Harry Potter franchise have something new to get excited about.

Another movie is being added to the canon – Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

The Crimes of Grindelwald is the second in the Fantastic Beasts series.

The Fantastic Beasts movies take place generations before Harry Potter arrived on the wizarding scene.

When is Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald out in UK and USA cinemas?

The sequel arrives in both the UK and USA on the same day: Friday, November 16, 2018.

Many other countries also see the Fantastic Beasts sequel on that same day, including Bulgaria, Spain, India, Sri Lanka (Colombo specifically), Poland, Romania, Sweden, Turkey, Vietnam, and South Africa.

Before the movie even arrives in these countries, The Crimes of Grindelwald will premiere in Belgium, Finland, France, and Norway on November 14, 2018.

Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Colombia, Czech Republic Germany, Denmark, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Philippines, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and Slovakia get the sequel the next day, November 15.

Japan is last with a release date of Friday, November 23, 2018 release date.

In October 2014, the Fantastic Beasts series was announced as being “at least” a trilogy.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was the first in the series and was directed by Harry Potter alumnus David Yates.

Two more movies were being planned for 2018 and 2020 release dates respectively.

Then, in July 2016, Yates spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the upcoming screenplay from J.K. Rowling for Fantastic Beasts 2.

“We’ve seen the script for Part 2, for the second movie, which takes the story in a whole new direction – as you should, you don’t want to repeat yourself.

“The second movie introduces new characters as she builds this part of the Harry Potter universe further.

“It’s a very interesting development from where we start out,” Yates said.

In October 2016, it was announced the Fantastic Beasts series would consist of five movies.

Eddie Redmayne was then confirmed to be reprising his role as Newt Scamander in all subsequent Fantastic Beasts movies.

Principal photography for The Crimes of Grindelwald started July 3, 2017, at Warner Bros Studios.

Jude Law, who plays a young Dumbledore, reportedly finished filming his scenes in September 2017.

Principal photography wrapped on 20 December 2017 and since then its been a slew of teasers and speculations.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is in UK and USA cinemas on November 16, 2018.
