Jamie Dornan speaks out on Fifty Shades Freed mania: He doesn’t miss THIS 'mad' part

The actor played Christian Grey in the three films in the trilogy: Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed.

The movies, based on EL James’ books, were a global phenomenon – and came with a huge fanbase and lots of global attention.

Asked about the fandom on The Graham Norton Show, Dornan didn’t seem to miss the hysteria around his performances.

On the notion of the attention going away, he said: “I hope so! I’ve kind of forgotten. That’s the best way to deal with it.

“There are mad, mad people everywhere that ask for inappropriate things.”

He also told a story he’d previously revealed – about a woman who had a very inappropriate request.

“I was playing golf in Scotland a couple of years ago and a woman asked me to sign her breasts,” he recalled. “’Jamie’ on one and ‘Dornan’ on the other.

“I didn’t do it because I worried about what the picture of me doing it would look like!”

Now he has moved onto other projects, including – surprisingly – a voice role in Trolls 2.

“I’ve played a lot of creepy characters so my kids can’t watch anything I’d done,” he said, “so I basically begged Universal to give me a part.

“I loved it and it was an amazing experience, but doing voice over made me very uncomfortable.”

Dakota Johnson, his former Fifty Shades co-star, has also spoken out on the films – and the difficulties that came with the change in director between the first and second instalments.

“I signed up to a film with a Patrick Marber screenplay, directed by Sam [Taylor-Johnson], and it just turned into something completely different,” she told The Times.

“Shooting two films back to back, where the majority is the same, over and over, did get a little bit tedious,” she said.

“It became, ‘how are we going to make this goddamn sex scene better than the other ones?’ There’s only so much you can do when the film is rated R.

“It was tricky. But it was a challenge I’m not ashamed of and I’m infinitely grateful to… I learned so much about my personal resilience.”
