The Flash release date: Warner Bros Flash movie DELAYED – by how long?

The Flash may be the fastest superhero but he’s taking his sweet time.

Warner Bros adaptation of the DC Comics hero is one in a long line of superhero movies.

With The Flash, the studio hoped to end its slump.

But now reports claim the superhero movie has been pushed back, leaving fans high and dry once again.

How long has the Flash movie been delayed?

What was initially set to start filming in March 2019 is now looking more like late 2019.

A source told the outlet the movie’s script is still being edited, and Warner Bros suspects the script won’t be ready for the original filming date.

The reason The Flash’s production would be pushed so late has to do with another Warner Bros vehicle.

Fantastic Beasts 3 is set to being production in July 2019 – why is this a problem?

Ezra Miller, the eponymous superhero in the Flash movie (also known as Barry Allen), also appears in the Harry Potter prequel franchise.

Even with superhero powers and sorcery, Miller can’t be in two places at once.

In order to accommodate Miller’s Fantastic Beasts filming, The Flash had to be pushed back.

Perhaps this isn’t all bad news after all, and the extended time frame may give the studio a chance to perfect its Flash script.

Previous DC adaptations, like Justice League, have been met with poor critical and fan responses alike.

Unlike Sony’s Venom, where critics were underwhelmed but box office success has been huge, Warner Bros comic-based movies have been, for all intents and purposes, flops (save for the likes of Wonder Woman).

When will The Flash come out?

This delay will push the release date all the way back to 2021, according to Variety.

The Flash is set to follow the storyline of Flashpoint, the comic book from 2011.

It is rumoured to feature plenty of time travel and alternate timelines to the DC universe.

Gal Gadot is reportedly joining Miller as an alternate-Wonder Woman.

Billy Crudup is expected to return as the Flash’s incarcerated father Henry Allen.

However, the delays to filming mean much of these confirmed roles are once again up in the air.

The Flash is no stranger to changing hands – the movie has already had two different directors and multiple scripts.

The Flash is expected to be released sometime in 2021.
