Queen Letizia stuns at Madrid awards ceremony wearing jaw-dropping little black dress

Queen Letizia, 46, is known as one of the most beautiful and stylish royals in the world.

Tonight she lived up to that title, stepping out in Madrid for an awards ceremony.

The royal was attending the presentation of the 35th annual Journalist Award ‘Francisco Cerecedo’.

Keeping all eyes on her, Letizia looked stunning in a black, fitted midi dress and dazzling hair and makeup.

The dress came to her mid-calved, showing off a hint of her slender, tanned legs.

Perfect for the formal occasion, it featured a deep v-neckline, short sleeves and a cinched in waist.

Just below the waist the dress featured an unusual white stripe, typical of Letizia’s edgy sense of style.

On her feet the stunning mother-of-two wore a pair of classic, pointed-toe black stilettos.

Finishing off her all-black look she carried with her a small, studded black clutch bag.

The dress looked stroking against the 46-year-old’s tanned, glowing skin.

Sporting a new hair style, Letizia wore her glossy brunette tresses curly and with full of volume.

Looking every inch a Queen, her makeup was natural-looking yet eye-catching, with the royal wearing lashes of mascara, pink sparkly eyeshadow, highlighter and a pinky brown lip.

Keeping things simple, the only jewellery worn by the Queen was a pair of platinum hoop earrings.

Letizia stood closely next to her husband King Felipe, who also looked dapper in a tailored black suit and red shiny tie.

The royals were attending the award that honours journalists who work to promote freedom of expression.

Her elegant ensemble was a stark contrast to the more casual outfit she was seen in yesterday.

Letizia and Felipe visited the Moal village, Cangas de Narcea yesterday – a small village in northern Spain.

The 46-year-old was pictured perusing local produce, helping a woman shelling beans and taking a selfie with a young girl.

Queen Letizia looked smart in a blue shirt tucked into a pair of high-waisted navy pinstriped trousers.

The stylish royal, who is known for her modern fashion choices, teamed the masculine tailoring with a pair of lace-up navy brogues.

Career

Letizia was already famous in her native Spain thanks to a career as a TV presenter and journalist.

She even won an award for best Spanish journalist under 30 in 2002, just before she met King Felipe.

Wedding

Felipe and Letizia Ortiz, as she was called then, wed in 2004.

She wore a long-sleeved wedding dress with a 15-foot train by Manuel Pertegaz.

As is custom with royal weddings, Letizia wore a tiara. Her diamond and platinum Prussian tiara is a German imperial heirloom created in 1913 by Koch for Princess Victoria Louise of Prussia’s wedding to Prince Ernst August.

Family

Letizia is the eldest of three daughters, with her middle sister tragically taking her own life in 2007.

Now, Letizia has two daughters, Leonor, Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofia of Spain. She is a hands on mum, taking the children to school and enjoying countless family holidays with them.

Divorce

Letizia has been married before, wedding Alfonso Guerrero, a teacher, in 1998.

However she did not require an annulment before her roman-catholic marriage to then Prince Felipe in 2004 as her marriage to Guerrero was a civil ceremony.

In 2008, Letizia underwent surgery on her nose to correct a respiratory problem, the Spanish palace confirmed at the time.
