Wonder Woman 1984 release date DELAYED: When is it out in UK and USA cinemas NOW?

Warner Bros has struggled with its DC Comics adaptations.

From Justice League to Batman v Superman, the studio seemed unable to recreate the same kind of success as Marvel.

But then Wonder Woman came along.

Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman gained critical and commercial success.

When is Wonder Woman 1984 out?

The long-anticipated sequel is going to be even longer anticipated, unfortunately.

Initially set for a November 2019 release date, Wonder Woman 1984 will now be out June 5, 2020.

The announcement came from Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot.

Taking to Twitter, the actor tried to couch the news in positivity.

She wrote: “Super excited to announce that, thanks to the changing landscape, we are able to put Wonder Woman back to its rightful home. June 5, 2020.

“Be there or be square!!!

The move likely hopes to bring in bigger box office numbers as a summer blockbuster.

However, fans were not impressed.

One user with the handle ShoelacesCrumb replied with: “Yeah I don’t know why that’s supposed be an exciting news…”

Another (Shubham631997 on Twitter) used the popular Titanic meme “It’s been 84 years” to illustrate their disappointment.

Still, a level of excitement permeates the conversation around the delayed release date.

“The delay means more time for them to work on the film. More time to perfect things. I’m completely okay with this,” said user l_harris9502.

Wonder Woman 1984 picks up well after the events of the first movie, in the 1980s.

Kirsten Wiig plays the main antagonist Cheetah/Barbara Minerva, with Pedro Pascal also joining the cast.

Chris Pine is also listed in the cast as Steve Trevor and fans are waiting to see how they bring the character back.

Trevor’s fate at the end of the first Wonder Woman saw him perish.

But if the Avengers has taught us anything, it’s that nothing is forever.

Wonder Woman 1984 is out in cinemas June 5, 2020.
