Batman SHOCK: Joker movie casts younger Bruce Wayne opposite Joaquin Phoenix
The 1980s set Joker origin movie has seen new casting announcements of familiar characters.
Hot on the trail of Brett Cullen being revealed as Thomas Wayne comes his son Bruce.
According to Comic Book, it’s child actor Dante Pereira-Olson who has been cast as the future Batman, in a film set before his parents are murdered in front of him.
It’s possible Dante’s casting could have something to do with Joker star Phoenix since the two starred in You Were Never Really There together earlier this year.
In fact, Dante played a younger version of Phoenix’s character Joe.
Meanwhile, The Night Manager and Black Mirror star Douglas Hodge has been cast as a younger Alfred Pennyworth.
As it stands there are currently five Alfreds existing in DC films and TV shows.
Jeremy Irons played the British butler in Justice League and Batman v Superman, while Ralph Fiennes did so in The LEGO Batman Movie.
Perhaps it’s more of an Easter Egg for fans rather than an actual nod that Batman himself will feature since he’s still a child.
Meanwhile, War for the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves is making a solo Batman film.
The movie is said to focus on a younger version of the Caped Crusader, rather than Affleck’s older Dark Knight.
So it looks like Warner Bros will be casting a new Batman soon – presumably an older version of Dante’s character, who could face Phoenix’s Joker in the future.
