Crown Princess Mary of Denmark in pictures: Danish royal wows at Copenhagen gala

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark attended a gala dinner with senior members of the royal family last night hosted by the Danish Parliament – the Folketing.

The 46-year-old royal arrived for gala dinner at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen wearing a stunning off-the-shoulder midnight blue dress.

The beaded gown featured a dark-coloured belt containing an insignia star which nipped the dress in at the waist and highlighted her slim figure.

The full-length dress elegantly fell to the floor and revealed a pair of coordinating blue satin high heels as she walked.

Princess Mary wore her favourite diamond and pearl tiara which she debuted on her wedding day in 2004.

The stylish royal, who is often compared to Kate Middleton because of her brunette hair and natural beauty, wore a blue sash with the family order on her left shoulder.

The portrait which hangs from a white and red ribbon contains a picture of Queen Margrethe of Denmark and is similar to the one worn by the Duchess of Cambridge for the first time this week.

Kate’s family order is a portrait of a young Queen Elizabeth II which hangs from a yellow ribbon.

Resting at the bottom of the sash is a white elephant representing the highest ranked honour in Denmark, the Order of the Elephant.

The mother-of-four attended the gala last night without her husband, Crown Prince Frederik – who turned 50 this year and is heir apparent to the Danish throne – as he is currently in Australia to attend the Sydney Invictus Games.

Also at the gala dinner in full regalia were Queen Margrethe of Denmark, 78, her youngest son Prince Joachim, 49, and his wife Princess Marie, 42.
