Robin Hood is a story ubiquitous across cultures, languages, and countries.
The tale is the story of the man who stole from the rich and gave to the poor in the face of a tyrannical oppressor.
Though many incarnations of Robin Hood have been humorous (either on purpose or by accident) the upcoming one is firmly in the serious camp.
Here’s all you need to know about the new Robin Hood movie.
When is Robin Hood out in cinemas?
The newest Robin Hood is in UK cinemas on November 21, 2018.
America will also get the movie on the same date, along with Hong Kong, Ireland, and the Phillippines.
The last country to get the movie is Austria, on January 11, 2019.
The project was announced back in 2015 but filming didn’t start until 2017.
What is the plot of Robin Hood?
Robin of Loxley, a war-hardened Crusader and his commander Little John mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown.
The official synopsis calls it “a thrilling action-adventure packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography, and a timeless romance.”
Otto Bathurst, a BAFTA winner for his work on Peaky Blinders, is directing Robin Hood.
The screenplay was co-written by Ben Chandler and David James Kelly.
Who is in the cast of Robin Hood?
Taron Egerton stars as Robin Hood, Scarlet’s half-brother, John’s best friend and the enemy of the Sheriff of Nottingham; he is also Marian’s love interest.
Jamie Foxx plays Little John, the leader of outlaws group Merry Men and Robin Hood’s best friend.
Ben Mendelsohn as Sheriff of Nottingham, Robin Hood’s enemy.
Eve Hewson plays Maid Marian, Robin Hood’s love interest but, unfortunately for him, she is the wife of Will Scarlet.
Jamie Dornan plays Will Scarlet, the aforementioned half-brother of Robin Hood, member of Merry Men and the husband of Marian.
Tim Minchin plays Friar Tuck, with Paul Anderson as Guy of Gisborne, Josh Herdman as Righteous, and Björn Bengtsson as Tydon
