Star Wars 9 SHOCK: Darth Vader can RETURN after THIS new official comic BOMBSHELL

He may have died in Return of the Jedi, but that doesn’t mean Darth Vader cannot return in Star Wars: Episode IX next year.

The latest issue of the Darth Vader official comic (issue 22) sees the villain given a helmet of a Sith Lord called Lord Momin.

Palpatine lends it to Vader to take to Mustafar where the object speaks with his apprentice.

Now that Sith immortality is canon, just what does this mean for Star Wars 9?

Well, fans will remember in The Force Awakens Kylo Ren speaks with the crushed mask of his grandfather, Darth Vader.

While the helmet never spoke back, perhaps it finally will in Episode IX next Christmas?

After all, the scene was set up in JJ Abrams’ flick and the director and writer has returned for Star Wars 9.

Significantly this movie isn’t just the end of the sequel trilogy, but the conclusion to the entire Skywalker saga. Surely they can’t not have a nod to Darth Vader?

Of course, some fans might argue it’s impossible for Vader to return.

Anakin Skywalker was redeemed at the end of Return of the Jedi and became a Force ghost alongside Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Nevertheless, Screen Rant points out that Obi-Wan said his apprentice “ceased to be Anakin Skywalker and became Darth Vader.”

So it’s not unreasonable to see the pair as two distinct persons, even in a literal sense.

Earlier this week Variety claimed Star Wars 9 is a course correction going forwards.

The outlet said that Abrams is “currently working on Star Wars: Episode IX, which has been billed as a course correction at Lucasfilm after spinoff films like Solo failed to meet the label’s high commercial expectations.”

What that will mean for the storyline of Star Wars 9 is anyone’s guess.
