Adonis Creed is back in the ring and plenty has changed since you last saw him.

In the time since 2016’s Creed movie, Adonis has become a father.

Creed II also sees Adonis avenging his own father in the ring, going up against the son of the man who killed his father 33 years ago.

The sequel has been greatly anticipated by Rocky fans and Michael B Jordan fans alike.

How old do you have to be to see Creed 2 in cinemas?

The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has yet to give Creed 2 a rating.

However, the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) has rated it PG-13.

Historically, PG-13 movies have been given a UK rating of 12A.

The BBFC did, in fact, gave the first Creed movie a 12A rating, citing moderate violence, and infrequent strong language.

The MPAA justified its PG-13 rating by citing for sports action violence, language, and a scene of sensuality.

A PG-13 rating means some material in the film may be inappropriate for children under 13.

The BBFC’s equivalent 12A rating is described as films which contain material that is not generally suitable for children aged under 12.

The BBFC continues: “No one younger than 12 may see a 12A film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult.

“Adults planning to take a child under 12 to view a 12A film should consider whether the film is suitable for that child.”

Though the BBFC has no insight information into the Creed sequel, an educated guess can be made based on the first film.

For the violence (which the MPAA refers to as sporting violence), the BBFC writes: “The majority of the film’s violence has a sporting context and takes place inside a boxing ring.

“Some of the punches thrown are very crunchy but injury detail is limited to sight of relatively minor facial cuts and swellings and the spitting out, from time to time, of bloody saliva.”

The use of language is also referred to by the BBFC.

The infrequent strong language and mild bad language included ‘ass’, ‘asshole’, ‘bullshit’, ‘shit’ and ‘son of a bitch’.

How the rating pans out for Creed II remains to be seen, but all signs point to 12A.

Creed 2 is out in cinemas on November 30, 2018.
