Anti-hero Deadpool is known for his crude humour and violent tendencies, The second instalment in the Deadpool series was released in May this year. The mixture of humour and action made the superhero a hit with fans. And now, Ryan Reynolds is back with a festive twist in Once Upon a Deadpool.

The trailer for Once Upon a Deadpool dropped yesterday evening.

The potty-mouthed anti-hero has had a makeover, as for the first time Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool will be rated Rated PG-13.

PG-13 means: “Parents Strongly Cautioned – some material may be inappropriate for children under 13.”

This means younger fans can watch the Christmas special “filtered through the prism of childlike innocence”.

Ryan told Deadline: “Fox has been asking for a PG-13 basically since the start in 2006. 

“I’ve said no since 2006. Now, this one time, I said ‘Yes’ on two conditions. 

“First, a portion of the proceeds had to go to charity. 

“Second, I wanted to kidnap Fred Savage. The second condition took some explaining…”

The Once Upon a Deadpool trailer shows Deadpool with a captive Fred Savage in a child’s bedroom. 

In fact, this is a hark back to the 1987 classic film The Princess Bride, in which Fred played a young boy listening to his grandfather read him a bedtime story. 

In the trailer, Deadpool tells the baffled actor: “You’re in a PG-13 version of Deadpool, filtered through the prism of childlike innocence.

“No one does childlike innocence better than you, Fred. Nobody.”

It seems Ryan got both of his wishes, with 20th Century Fox donating $1 from each ticket sold to “Fudge Cancer”.

The charity is actually called F*** Cancer but Fox confirmed the founders “graciously changed their name to be more PG-13 friendly for the 12 days of Once Upon A Deadpool’s release”.

Once Upon A Deadpool will be released in Cinemas across the UK on December 11.
