Back to the Future 4 tops NEW poll of most wanted sequels: How likely is it?

The Back to the Future trilogy ended almost 30 years ago and a fourth film has long been a source of discussion among its fans. Nevertheless, a new addition to the franchise is more desired than the likes of Toy Story, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Shrek, Die Hard and Avatar. Interestingly, all those series have sequels in the works, while Back to the Future has no plans for another outing. Yet 71% of Americans said in a new poll that they were likely to watch another film in the time travelling series if it were made.

Earlier this year Doc Brown star Christopher Lloyd revealed he would love to return for Back to the Future Part IV.

Speaking with Phoenix News Times, the 79-year-old said: “I’d be delighted.

“I’d love to be in a fourth film if they could come up with the right idea that extends the story and does it as well as the first three.”

“Well, I think its a matter of, first of all, it’s important if Bob Zemeckis and Bob Gale are excited about doing another episode [of Back to the Future], I think, really, the most important thing is if they can come up with the right idea.”

And back in 2015 during the original film’s 30th anniversary, the director told the Telegraph: “And then I’m sure they’ll do it unless there’s a way our estates can stop it.

“I mean, to me, [a remake is] outrageous. Especially since it’s a good movie. It’s like saying ‘Let’s remake Citizen Kane. Who are we going to get to play Kane?’

“What folly, what insanity is that? Why would anyone do that?”

In a sense, Bob Gale has continued the Back to the Future stories in a recent Telltale video game set a year after the end of the trilogy, and in the on-going comic book series that together have expanded the films’ universe.
