Avengers 4: Huge Captain America TWIST? Ending may NOT be what fans are expecting

But has even that now been thrown into question? Earlier this year Chris Evans – who plays Captain America – took to social media to lament the end of his time playing the iconic Marvel superhero, leading many to assume that the character would be killed off in next year’s movie. Or, at least, he would leave the MCU in some way.

But now, in a new interview, the film’s co-director Anthony Russo appears to have poured cold water over that whole theory.

In fact, Russo seemed to imply that Evans’ time playing Captain America isn’t actually over at all – despite his contract now being fulfilled.

Speaking to the Associated Press, he said: “I think it was more emotional for him than us, only because, you know, he’s not done yet.

“And I won’t explain what that means, but the audience will soon understand what I’m talking about.”

Evans had posted back in October after the Avengers 4 reshoots had finished that he was “emotional” at the end of an era.

“Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day to say the least,” he tweeted.

“Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories!

“Eternally grateful.”

Avengers 4 is currently pending a trailer, which has been rumoured to be released very soon.

In fact, it was initially strongly believed to have arrived this past week, but nothing ultimately came of the speculation.

Now, fans are suggesting it will drop at some point before a prelude comic hits shelves on December 5.

Avengers 4 is out on April 26, 2019 in the UK.
