Avengers 4: Major potential 'plot hole' FIXED in new Captain Marvel trailer

The upcoming solo movie sees Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers introduced to the MCU; and it takes place in the 1990s. But fans also know that Larson will be back as Danvers in spring’s as-yet-untitled Avengers 4 – which is set in the present day. It is widely assumed that Larson will not be made-up to look older in the latter – so how come Carol doesn’t age?

The answer is tucked in the new Captain Marvel trailer, and was picked-up on by Screenrant.

At one point we see the introduction of Annette Bening, who was confirmed earlier this year to have joined the cast.

Her character tells Carol about her Kree origins, saying: “We made you one of us. So you could live longer, stronger, superior.

“You were reborn.”

Got that? Danvers is built now to live longer than the ordinary human – meaning she will age much slower.

So when she’s seen back in action in Avengers 4, set more than 20 years after the events of Captain Marvel, you’ll know why she hasn’t aged a day.

One character for whom time will have had its full effect, however, is Nick Fury.

Samuel L Jackson has played the character throughout MCU history, and has been digitally de-aged for Captain Marvel.

In fact, in this film, fans are expected to find out how he ended up using an eyepatch.

The first Avengers 4 trailer was widely reported to be set for release tomorrow (Wednesday), but some insiders are now claiming it has been delayed.

This may be understandable: Good Morning America was thought to be a platform for its grand unveiling, but the funeral of former President George HW Bush may lead to things being shifted around.

Avengers 4 is out on April 26 in the UK. Captain Marvel is out on March 8.
