Martin Lewis: Holidaymakers need THIS credit card – no fees (and it'll earn you £20 cash)
If you’re going abroad a specialist credit card is a no-brainer, according to Martin.
As they have no exchange fees you get the near-perfect rate the banks get every time.
Martin says just make sure you set up a direct debit to repay in full.
But sort one now because they take time to arrive, and as with any card you will be credit-checked.
So which bank’s overseas credit card should you go for?
Halifax Clarity’s has been one of Money Saving Expert’s top overseas spending picks for years – and now newbies get an extra bonus.
Customers are now entitled to a £20 cashback when they use the card abroad.
Apply, then buy anything abroad by 30 September. You will then get £20 cashback within 90 days.
The card also comes with no fee to use anywhere worldwide, no cash withdrawal fee and no annual fee.
But Martin suggests repaying for it in full, or it is 18.9 per cent representative APR on spending and cash, though you pay small interest on ATM withdrawals until they are paid off.
As it’s a top credit card you need to pass a credit check, and not everyone will get it.
So use the Money Saving Expert website’s Overseas Card Eligibility Calculator, which lists most of the top overseas spending cards to see which you have the best chance of getting.
