Avengers 4 trailer release date 'on FRIDAY morning' but the title will NOT be revealed

Seriously, is Marvel not going to reveal the film’s title when it releases the first trailer?

The studio has been almost inhumanly good at pitching its movies and all the surrpounding marketing over the last ten years. But the build-up for the revelation of the A4 title is starting to feel like a misfire.

Marvel boss Kevin Feige admitted as much, warning fans not to have excessive expectations about the title or what it may mean for the MCU moving into Phase 4.

A new report now claims that the trailer will be released tomorrow but will not reveal the film’s title.

Steven Weintraub from Collider has strong sources in the industry and strong relationships with the studios and he Tweeted the news earlier today.

He wrote: “Already breaking my rule from two days ago. Hearing the first Avengers 4 trailer will not reveal the title.”

This would be almost unprecedented. It seems impossible that the marketing for the biggest movie in Marvel history will kick off without actually including the title.

However, the trailer was widely expected to arrive before the new Avengers 4 Prelude comic hit shelves this week, but that has already been released. Most importnatly, it also failed to carry the Avengers 4 full title.

What is going on?

The original reason earlier this year for holding back the title was that it would contain spoilers for the events of Infinity War. That obviously no longer applies.

This may immediately count out the most popular current theory which proposes Annihilation, since this would directly reveal the advent of Annihilus and so become an even bigger spoiler.

Major US sites are now confident that the trailer will arrive tomorrow, with some asserting it will drop at 9am Easter Standard Time (2pm in the UK).

Whether or not it includes the title remains to be seen.

Weintraub himself is hedging his bets. He added: “Want to be clear I am not 100% on this. Which is why it is a tweet and not a story on Collider. We should know if my source was right or wrong soon…”

Avengers 4 is out on April 27, 2019
