Aquaman end credits leak: How many after credit scenes? Do the Justice League appear?

Aquaman is about to splash into cinemas worldwide. Unusually, though, it made its global debut over the weekend in China. This is a new tactic for a Hollywood blockbuster, but one that appears to have paid off. The latest DC movie has already grossed over $94million there, more than Wonder Woman took in its entire run, and approaching Justice League’s Chinese take $106million. After a bumpy run for DCEU movie, Aquaman looks set to open a new era for the comicbook giant that might finally rival Marvel. The Chinese release also means that the full plot description is already up on Wikipedia, confirming the latest detailed description of the end credit scene.

There is only one scene during or after the credits.

Back in July Express Online reported a mid-credits scene described by Discussing Film as follows: “From our sources, we can confirm that Warner Bros’ next DC film, Aquaman, which will splash into cinemas on December 21, will currently include a post credits scene featuring Randall Park’s Dr Stephen Shin and Yahya Abdul Mateen II’s Black Manta… setting up Black Manta for a larger villainous role in potential Aquaman sequels.”

A new leak describes exactly what happens and what it mean next for Aquaman and Atlantis. 

The report in ReRelease News said: “The scene begins in the middle of the ocean. David Kane aka Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) is floating on a piece of wood. His suit is heavily damaged from the fighting with Aquaman in Italy. A man on a ship notices him. The man is Dr. Stephen Shin (Randall Park). Dr. Shin only has one scene during the actual film, which consists of him giving a TV interview arguing that the Atlantis is real.

“Black Manta appears inside Dr. Shin’s Boat, sitting on a couch and listening to that very TV interview.

“Dr. Shin is examining Black Manta’s suit and tells him that it consists of Atlantian technology. He asks Black Manta to lead him to Atlantis. Black Manta agrees, but only if Dr. Shin would lead him to someone else. He throws his knife on a poster of Aquaman and the scene cuts to black.”

The trailers already showed Mera and Aquaman fighting Black Manta in Italy. It looks increasingly likely this will be his main appearance in this movie. 

Patrick Wilson’s Orm has been positioned as the principal villain (even if his argument that humanity is poisoning the oceans will strike a chord with many), so it makes sense for the popular cmocbook villain Black Manta to merely be teased for teh likely sequels.

Based on Aquaman’s early triumph in China and strong early reviews it looks certain another watery adventure will be splashing into cinemas before long.

As for the wider Justice League, director James Wan already confirmed his movie would stand alone and slightly apart, so there are no cameos from Aquaman’s superhero teammates.
