Queen Maxima dons plum velvet dress after dazzling in diamonds at state banquet

Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, 47, wore a stunning velvet gown in a rich and sumptuous plum colour to attended a concert last night.

The Dutch Queen and her husband King Willem-Alexander, 51, hosted a concert by well-known Cabo Verdean musicians at the Cruise terminal in Rotterdam for their current guests.

The King and Queen of the Netherlands officially welcomed the President of Cape Verde, Jorge Carlos de Almeida Fonseca, 68, and his wife Ligia Dias Fonseca to the country for a two-day visit this week.

Last night the two couples were joined by the King’s mother, Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands, 80, for their evening event.

Queen Maxima wore her long blonde hair in bouncy waves over her shoulders and added a slick of dark pink lipstick to compliment her long tiered dress.

The royal embellished her gown with a statement necklace and coordinating earrings before added a matching pair of velvet shoes in the same colour as her dress.

She was presented with a bouquet of red roses before making her way to dinner.

On Monday night the Dutch royals hosted a state banquet in honour of their visiting guests.

Queen Maxima chose a stunning one-shoulder red gown for the splendid royal event.

The full-length dress featured a slim belt and beaded details around her waist.

The mother-of-three previous wore the scarlet gown to a state banquet in Wellington, New Zealand two years ago.

Her Majesty dazzled at the banquet dinner wearing a delicate rose cut Diamond Bandeau tiara, which was originally a necklace when it was gifted to Princess Emma of Waldeck and Pyrmont in 1879.

She opted for a pair of circular diamond earrings and an incredible Art Deco diamond corsage brooch also believed to be from the former Queen’s collection.
