Claudia Winkleman then and now: Presenter flaunts fresh-faced look in decade-old snap

Claudia Winkleman, 46, first appeared on people’s TV screens back in 1992, on BBC series Holiday, but it wasn’t until the early 00’s that she landed her first major television job on Central Weekend.

Impressing viewers at home and TV bosses with her bubbly presenting style, Claudia is now a household name and hosts one of the BBC’s biggest shows, Strictly Come Dancing.

Over the years, Claudia is recognised for heavy fringe, lashing of eye make-up and deep tan.

But just ten years ago the presenter sported a very different look.

Snapped arriving for Britain’s Best at London Studios in 2008, Claudia flaunted a fresh-faced look, featuring a much paler complexion.

Instead of the thick black eyeliner we know her for today, she was wearing very little eye make-up – only a small bit of mascara could be seen on her bottom eyelashes.

And her famous block fringe was much longer than it is now, sweeping across her forehead as the wind blew.

This year, Claudia’s hairdo bagged her a star spot in a TV commercial for Head & Shoulders Supreme, which are premium shampoos and conditioners designed for women.

The commercial differs from a typical hair ad however as it is completely unscripted and tailored for Claudia’s quirky sense of humour.

This weekend Claudia will be appearing on Strictly Come Dancing in the show’s final.

She first appeared on the main show in 2009, due to the main presenter Bruce Forsyth being on sick leave.

Her involvement in series 10 of the show was then limited to co-hosting the Sunday night results show with Tess Daly.

But in 2014, Claudia was given the opportunity to replace Bruce Forsyth as co-presenter, with Tess Daly, of the main Strictly Come Dancing show (the twelfth series).

For the last two years, the London-born star was the BBC’s highest-paid female, bringing in a staggering £450,000-£499,999 salary in 2016-2017.

Due to media scrutiny over the BBC’s “talent list”, Claudia and other BBC talents took a pay cut, with her salary dropping to £370,000-£379,999 – still an impressive amount.

According to CelebrityNetWorth.com, Claudia now has a whopping net worth of around $12 million (£9 million).

Putting her substantial earnings to good use, Claudia lives in the highly-sought after area of Bayswater in London.

The 46-year-old lives with her film producer husband, Kris Thykier, and their three children Jake, 14, Matilda, eight and Arthur, six.

After years in the job, fans could assume Claudia’s at ease on the screen as viewers from across the nation watch her.

But a couple of weeks ago, a body language expert insisted she may have spied some “hidden nerves”.
