To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before is based on a novel of the same name. The movie, like the book, follows high-school student Lara Jean Song Covey. Lara is forced to confront her past crushes when her sister sends them old love letters Lara wrote in the past.

Will there be a To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before sequel?

Jenny Han’s novel has a sequel, so it is unsurprising that Netflix has confirmed the movie sequel, too.

Netflix has released a first-look teaser reuniting Lana Condor and Noah Centineo.

The pair played Lara and Peter respectively in the original and are reprising their roles in the sequel.

In the teaser, Noah and Lana are discussing Christmas plans, before Lana tells audiences about the upcoming sequel.

Lana then ends her call with Noah when she gets a call from an unknown actor.

Without giving away who the actor is, Lana says she thinks he will make the perfect John Ambrose.

John Ambrose briefly appeared in the first movie as another of Lara Jean’s suitors.

The original movie cast Jordan Burtchett as Ambrose, but it has yet to be confirmed if he will reprise the role.

To All The Boys I Loved Before featured Ambrose turning up at the Covey house when he receives a letter from when they were in the model UN together.

Han’s sequel novel was called PS I Still Love You, and given how the first film stuck to its source material, the sequel will likely be similar to the second book.

Character-wise, Margot and Kitty Covey, Peter Kavinsky, Josh Sanderson and Genevieve all return in the novel and will likely return in the film adaptation too.

Fans are already looking for a threequel. After all, the third book Always and Forever, Lara Jean, has plenty of material left…

So far, no release date has been confirmed for the sequel, but late 2019 or early 2020 seem to be safe bets.

Speaking about the sequel to The Metro, Noah said: “I haven’t heard anything, all I know is that everyone involved wants there to be a sequel.

“I absolutely want a sequel! I’m under that universe. Maybe Peter can fall from the pedestal?

“Maybe he can change into not-so-good of a guy? Maybe we can show the dimensions to different people.

“How we can be heroes in one moment and villains in another?”

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before is now available to stream on Netflix.
