Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, will mark her 37th birthday on Wednesday. Should they have the option, some people choose to request the day off work when their birthday rolls around. But, does the same go for the Duchess, considering her role as a senior member of the Royal Family? The Cambridges have a very busy diary throughout the year, and now, Kensington Palace have revealed one of the royal engagements taking place on Kate’s birthday.

Yesterday, the palace confirmed that Prince William will visit the London’s Air Ambulance Charity on Wednesday.

The meeting will see the Duke recognise the work carried out by the first responders at the charity.

A tweet from Kensington Palace read: “The Duke of Cambridge will visit @LDNairamb on Wednesday 9th January to recognise the work that their first responders carry out delivering life-saving treatment across London.”

Following the announcement, the verified Twitter account @LDNairamb retweeted the post.

The charity added: “We are delighted to be receiving a visit from His Royal Highness, The Duke of Cambridge on the 9th January to mark #30yearssavinglives.”

The visit is thought to be the 36-year-old’s first engagement of 2019, and it is not believed that he will be joined by his wife for the event.

The charity is close to Prince William’s heart, with him having worked as an air ambulance pilot for the East Anglia Air Ambulance (EAAA) in the past.

He served his last shift for the EAAA back in July 2017.

While he worked as a paid pilot, between 2015 and 2017, Prince William and Kate lived in their Norfolk country home, Anmer Hall, with Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released several rare pictures from inside Anmer Hall.

So, while some of Prince William’s schedule for Wednesday is known, what does Kate’s diary look like on her birthday?

It is currently unknown what the Duchess of Cambridge will be doing on her birthday.

However, it is thought that the royal will celebrate the occasion privately – most likely with her husband and their three children: Prince George, five, Princess Charlotte, three, and eight-month-old Prince Louis.

Last year, Meghan Markle – who is now officially Kate’s sister-in-law following the Royal Wedding in May last year – is thought to have marked the special day by giving Kate a touching gift.

Amid the wedding planning, it’s thought that the 37-year-old gifted the royal the Kensington Bracelet – which had been created especially for the Duchess by Sofia Day Co.

Back in 2016, months before Prince Harry had proposed to the former Suits actress, she is said to have given her a “dream diary” as a birthday present, according to reports.

A source told The Sun: “Meg had bought Kate a small birthday present – a very smart leather-bound ‘dream diary’ for her thoughts and ideas which Kate loved.”

How did Kate Middleton become a royal?

Early life

Kate Middleton, or Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, was born on 9 January 1982 at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading, England.

She was born to Michael and Carole Middleton, a former flight dispatcher and air hostess. The couple founded a party supplies company, Party Pieces, in 1987 – now estimated to be worth £30 million.

Kate has a younger sister Pippa Matthews, 34, and a younger brother James Middleton, 31.

Education

Kate and her family moved to Amman, Jordan, in 1984, where the future Duchess was educated at an English-speaking nursery school.

After moving back to Berkshire the family sent Kate to private school, St Andrews School. She went on to briefly study at Downe House before moving onto Marlborough College where she boarded.

For university the young Kate attended the University of St Andrews in Fife, Scotland. Here she was awarded an undergraduate MA (2:1 Hons) in history of art.

Relationship with Prince William

Kate met Prince William when they were both studying at St Andrews, and both living in St Salvator’s Hall. Famously, William reportedly took a fancy to Kate after she wore a see-through dress during a fashion show.

In 2003 the couple began dating and lived together during their second year of university.

The couple split in April 2007, however, in October they were back together.

Wedding

Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton with his late mother Princess Diana’s engagement ring in October 2010. The couple were holidaying in Kenya at the time.

On 29 April 2011 they married at Westminster Abbey with a whopping 26 million watching the event live.

Kate wore an Alexander McQueen dress worth a reported £250,000 on the big day.

Kate assumed the title “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge” and also become the Duchess of Cambridge on the day.
