Oscars 2019 nominations: When are the nominees announced? Here's the date

The night of the Oscars is the biggest in the movie calendar; with the finest in Hollywood congregating to reward the best output of the last year. The ceremony is slated for February 24, but when are the nominations out? There’s not much time left.

Voting for the Academy Awards opened today, so those in the inner circle of Hollywood will be making their big decisions from now.

Voting closes next Monday, January 14; after which the final list of nominees will be compiled.

Those nominees will finally be unveiled eight days later; on Tuesday, January 22.

The nominees luncheon follows on February 4, before the Academy gets voting on its winners starting February 12.

Voting closes on February 12, with the 91st Oscars dished out later that month; on February 24.

The Oscars will, notably, likely be without a host this year – after the controversial exit of Kevin Hart.

Hart stepped down amid backlash over past homophobic jokes in his stand-up routines, and extremely derogatory language on Twitter.

Subsequent rows over whether or not he did actually ever apologise for those things have continued, and Hart – despite allegedly having the door open for a return – is said to have decided to stay out of it.

This means that a serious of famous faces will present segments and awards on the night of the bash, but there will be no single compere.

The situation was playfully mocked by Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh last night during their well-received opening monologue at the Golden Globes.

Meanwhile, here in the UK, the BAFTA nominations are out on Wednesday this week.

The ceremony – hosted by Joanna Lumley – will follow on February 10.
