Avengers Endgame theory: Is THIS why everyone did NOT die at same time in Infinity War?

Avengers Infinity War saw half the universe die in Thanos’ Snap, but why didn’t those who turned to ash disappear at the same time before Avengers Endgame? Marvel fans will remember the Avengers who died did so one after the other. Now a popular theory by Reddit user NotARobotBoopBeep claims the calculation of randomising the deaths by grouping took the Mind Stone – in tandem with the other Infinity Stones in the Infinity Gauntlet – quite sometime.

They argued: “I was thinking about the Snap in Infinity War and I was realising that the way the Snap eliminates half of all life could happen two ways – would it be a simple random selection of half of all life or is it stratified so that 50% of every grouping of life is eliminated?

“If it were simple random selection then there would be a danger of losing balance in the world because certain endangered species are very important to the environments they live in and they could potentially be eliminated, disrupting the delicate balance in their environments.

“Basically truly random selection would be potentially more detrimental to some species more than others.

“Thanos seems to be all about balance, so I would think the Snap would be stratified so that half of women would be eliminated, half of men, half of left-handed people, half of whites, blacks, asians, etc.”

THEORY: THANOS DID NOT WANT TO SAVE THE UNIVERSE IN INFINITY WAR

They continued: “But this could potentially be a massive calculation to perform – there are many overlaps between those groups alone – some people belong to the group women, left-handed, and asian, and performing the calculation to sort WHICH humans need to die in order for each category to be at 50% is very tedious.

“Further support that the randomisation happens this way is that Thanos seems to be doing it by hand before he has the stones.

“In the scene where he kills half of Gamora’s people, they can be seen in the background separating the people into two sides and then they shoot one side.

“It could potentially take a computer a very long time to perform the calculation for the entire universe, taking into account all alien races, animals, etc.”

THEORY: THANOS FEARS THE STONES AND THE GAUNTLET IS PERMANENTLY BURNED ONTO HIM

They added: “My theory is that that calculation occurs within the Mind Stone which has already been shown to contain a computer and the reason everybody doesn’t get dusted simultaneously is that the Mind Stone is sorting them into groups and it is taking time to perform the calculation, killing group A as individuals get sorted into it.

“Just a thought, but I thought it might explain why they die slowly other than just for dramatic effect.”

Avengers Endgame will be released in UK cinemas on April 26, 2019.
