Marvel fans are used to being left on the edge of cliffs when it comes to movie’s endings. But one nagging questions leftover in fans’ minds was why it took Nick Fury so long to call Captain Marvel during the events of Avengers: Infinity War. A recent interview with Samuel L Jackson, however, has hinted at an answer…

Why did Nick Fury wait so long to call Captain Marvel?

In an interview with Radio Times, Jackson said: “Fury was like, ‘Wait a minute.

“The only person I know who can handle this is this person, let me call her now.’”

Though the simple forgetfulness might not be enough to appease some fans’ curiosity, Jackson elaborated.

He said: “He has kept an ace up his sleeve for a very long time when he could have used it a long time ago.”

AVENGERS ENDGAME THEORY: WILL MARVEL RESET THE SNAP AND TIMELINE?

“He used it at just the right moment so, I’m sure there’s a reason for that.”

Jackson stars in Captain Marvel as a young Nick Fury.

Using age regression technology, Jackson’s face was manipulated to look younger.

Speaking on The Jonathan Ross Show, Saturday 2nd March, 9:25 pm on ITV, Jackson said:

CAPTAIN MARVEL FIRST REACTIONS: THIS IS WHAT CRITICS HAVE TO SAY

“I just had dots on my face [from the visual effects] and had enough movies in the nineties that they could just go and steal a face here, steal a face there.”

As for his role in Endgame, Jackson was asked whether he’d appear.

He replied: “No. No, why would I be? I don’t have any superpowers, I can’t fight battles. No, I’m not in it.”

Of course, we can’t take anything Jackson says about Endgame at face value.

AVENGERS ENDGAME THEORY: NEW THEORY CLAIMS THE SNAP WON’T BE UNDONE

The Marvel actors are under strict orders not to give anything away.

On the same show, Larson tells Jonathan Ross she didn’t even tell her mom when she was cast.

How Captain Marvel will feature in Avengers: Endgame remains to be seen.

But early reports on Twitter from Captain Marvel screenings say one of the post-credits scenes is an Endgame teaser of sorts.

Captain Marvel is out in cinemas on March 8, 2019. Avengers: Endgame is out in cinemas on April 26, 2019.
