Captain Marvel credits scene: Directors CONFIRM Avengers Endgame 'direct lead-in'

Beware mild Captain Marvel spoilers. Marvel films are renowned for their credits sequences, and one little coda on the new Brie Larson-fronted blockbuster catches up with the surviving Avengers in the aftermath of last year’s Avengers: Infinity War. It’s already known that Larson’s Carol Danvers will feature in Avengers: Endgame, and this scene appears to show exactly how she arrives. Captain Marvel directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck have spoken out on how it came together.

Speaking on Empire magazine’s new podcast, Boden said: “The sting is really a direct lead-in to [the Russo Brothers’] movie, I’d imagine – if i knew anything about their movie!

“They were the ones who came up with the concept for it, and we said, ‘that sounds awesome’.”

Fleck, meanwhile, confirmed that the Russo Brothers were the ones who directed that credits scene.

“They shared the script with us, and we said, ‘great’.

“They’re the ones who physically shot that little scene.”

As for whether or not the scene does feature in Avengers: Endgame remains to be seen, but it hasn’t been confirmed either way for the time being.

Still, given that it appears to show how Carol responds to Nick Fury’s pager, it could be a safe bet that it is included.

Avengers: Endgame is out next month, on a sea of hype and speculation.

Last week a scene from the movie was shown to Disney shareholders; with one of them making claims on Twitter about what happens next.

They alleged that it’s Carol who rallies the Avengers to track down and kill Thanos – assuring them that she’s the secret weapon they need to conquer him.

It’s Nebula, the leaker claimed, who points them in the right direction as to his whereabouts.

Avengers: Endgame is out on April 25 in the UK.
