Cheltenham races 2019: Ladies’ Day sees plunging necklines and humongous hats aplenty
Cheltenham races are back with the 2019 Cheltenham Festival kicking off at Cheltenham Racecourse yesterday. As Day two begins, attendees have been spotted arriving for the event. Today marks Ladies’ Day, and as per tradition, this means women will usually wear their smartest outfits for the occasion, while men should be donned in equally sophisticated numbers. While Cheltenham doesn’t officially have a strict dress code, Ladbrokes explains that Ladies’ Day tends to mean attendees should conform to a stricter dress code.
“There is often a strict dress code for all enclosures (except the family enclosure) on Ladies’ Day,” the gambling company explains of the racing tradition.
Today, women and men alike turned out in their droves in some jaw-dropping outfits.
Some style choices spotted amongst those arrivals included plunging necklines.
Switching up the everyday suit, one woman wore a grey and white check co-ord, which had ben adorned with splashes of vibrant yellow print.
The garment featured a seriously low-cut neckline, and had a longer than usual cut for a suit jacket.
She teamed it with a black Chanel bag, as well as pointed heels and a black hat which had been adorned with white and yellow feathers.
Another woman made sure she made a statement as she arrived wearing a humongous piece of headgear.
The hat was far greater than her head, and resembled a red and white flower.
She teamed it with a white and metallic gold patterned minidress, as well as a red coat, heels and a matching bag.
Elsewhere at Cheltenham races 2019, one person dressed head to toe in a pale-toned ensemble.
Opting against a hat for this occasion, she sported a low-cut cream suit, tied only with a belt at her waist.
The attendee wore a lacy bodysuit beneath the plunging attire, and accessorised the get-up with a cream stud clutch bag and beige shoes.
Meanwhile, another race-goer teamed a tiny beige mini-dress with some vibrant accessories.
Stepping out in the suit-style dress, she wore bright orange heels, and a hat in the same colour to match.
The hat rested on her head in an oval shape, and had attention-commanding feathers sticking up into the air.
Zara Tindall, 37, was also pictured attending the event, having been joined by her husband Mike Tindall, 40, and mother Princess Anne, 68.
