Meghan Markle news: The surprising reason the Duchess wears blue more than any colour

The Duchess of Sussex is due to have her first child with husband, Prince Harry, 34, in the Spring. The stylish royal has worn a number of chic outfits during her pregnancy, and there is one colour she has opted for more than any other. Meghan Markle has worn blue 22 times during her pregnancy, which is more than any other colour, according to LovetheSales.com. But the reason she has done this could be surprising, fashion expert, Laura Arrowsmith, has revealed.

Wearing blue could be a sign of professionalism and a nod to Meghan’s new home of the UK, according to Laura, who is a lecturer in Fashion Business and Promotion at Birmingham City University.

She told Express.co.uk: “Meghan has been seen to wear numerous blue outfits in the run up to the royal baby arrival, however I do not believe this is necessarily a hint as to what gender the baby may be.”

Instead, this muted colour may be worn to show commitment to her new life in England.

Laura said: “Blue is an approachable colour and a colour that has English heritage.

“Worn by officers in the British Royal Navy since 1748, navy represents us as a country so it is possible Meghan is providing support to her new home.”

The fashion expert does not believe that Meghan would choose to reveal the baby’s gender through her styling.

Meghan has opted for a lot of different styles and colours during her pregnancy, with her other favourites being classics such as black, white and red.

Laura explained: “Meghan is often seen in muted tones and soft palettes.

“She isn’t one to endorse loud prints and colour clashes, her style is simplistic and elegant.”

From the colours she has worn, beige and grey are her least favourite, as she has only chosen to wear them each four times.

Despite choosing blue more than anything else, it is unlikely she has been dropping hints about her baby and the public will need to wait to find out when the royal baby is born if it is a boy or a girl.
