Avengers 4 Endgame runtime CONFIRMED and it is SHORTER than expected

It’s safe to say that Avengers 4 probably can’t be long enough for fans. Infinity War clocked in at 149 minutes and packed a lot in. Avengers 4 has a huge task to resolve all the issues created by The Snap. More than that, though, it is also likely to be the big screen farewell for some of the most beloved heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans will want to savour every last moment with them. 

The Hollywood Reporter released a major analysis of box office predictions for Avengers Endgame which necessitated a detailed look at the runtime.

This is because the length of the movie may actually impact box office takings, since it will result in fewer screenings in each location.

THR said: “Endgame, directed by the Russo brothers, runs 3 hours and 58 seconds, the longest run time of any Marvel Studios title (Infinity War was 2 hours and 29 minutes). The film’s running time means one fewer showing a day on any given screen. The superhero pic can try to make up the difference by playing in as many auditoriums as possible in any given location.”

Previous reports had the runtime at a slightly longer three hours and two minutes.

However, this was based on reports from cinemas who were firming up schedules and will slightly over-estimate since they need to calculate how much time is needed for each screening including trailers, adverts and cleaning the auditorium in between audiences. 

Three hours and 58 seconds will still thrill fans, of course, and ensures the Russos will have time to deliver the emotional punch fans have come to expect, alongside the blockbuster thrills and effects.

Anthony Russo gave a major interview to Fandango yesterday and reassured fans the movie would build on everything he and his brother achieved on Captain America Winter Soldier and Civil War, as well as Infinity War.

He said: “If you look at the end of these movies there’s something big and consequential happening, and we think that’s important to building a great story [and] a memorable story. So there will be things that excite audiences and thrill audiences in this movie, and there will also be things that will challenge them, and I think that’s why people come to these films.”
