Fans have been in overdrive awaiting more details on the movie since a cryptic tweet was posted by Netflix over the weekend. Now a trailer confirms it is coming – and very soon indeed. Watch the trailer above ahead of the confirmed release date of April 17.

Netflix’s description reads: “Homecoming presents an intimate look at Beyoncé’s historic 2018 Coachella performance that paid homage to America’s historically black colleges and universities.

“Interspersed with candid footage and interviews detailing the preparation and powerful intent behind her vision, Homecoming traces the emotional road from creative concept to cultural movement.”

Beyonce’s 2018 Coachella performances took place on April 14 and April 21 last year, meaning this film will come out more-or-less exactly one year later.

She received enormous critical praise, with The New York Times music critic Jon Caramanica saying: “There’s not likely to be a more meaningful, absorbing, forceful and radical performance by an American musician this year, or any year soon, than Beyoncé’s headlining set.”

It became the festival’s most-watched performance to date and the most-watched live-stream performance of all time.

The star’s setlist encompassed much of her mighty discography, from Crazy In Love and Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It to the more recent groundbreaking likes of Formation and Drunk In Love.

Since Netflix dropped this new trailer just moments ago, fans have been reacting with huge excitement.

One person tweeted: “Okay cool so I was gonna be like ‘I’ve seen this Beyoncé Homecoming thing’ but it’s not just the performance, it’s a whole ass concert film so I guess I’ll be streaming.”

Another beamed: “The moment when you are more excited to watch a documentary about Beyonce’s set than watching anyone perform this year…”

“so. much. power. in. this. ONE. TRAILER,” enthused another likely viewer.

To date, Beyonce has sold over 100 million records as a soloist, plus over 60 million as part of Destiny’s Child.

Homecoming: A Film By Beyoncé is streaming on Netflix from April 17.
