The film is out this summer and boasts an all-star cast and that iconic soundtrack.

This new clip, which arrives 100 days out from the release date, provides the biggest glimpse yet of several characters – specifically Scar and Mufasa, the latter of whom is voiced by a returning James Earl Jones.

Scar is voiced by Chiwetel Ejiofor, and there’s also a quick look at Timon and Pumbaa – played here by Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen respectively.

Before a first look at the tragic stampede, Scar can chillingly be heard telling Simba: “Life’s not fair, is it, my little friend?

“While some are born to feast – others spend their lives in the dark begging for scraps.”

Mufasa can then be seen telling his son: “Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance.

“While others search for what they can take, a true King searches for what he can give.”

Donald Glover’s Simba, let alone Beyonce’s Nala, can not be heard in this particular trailer.

The film’s synopsis reads: “Disney’s The Lion King, directed by Jon Favreau, journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born.

“Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival.

“Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own.”

It adds: “The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile.

“With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.”

The Lion King will be the third of three Disney “live action” remakes out in cinemas this year, following Dumbo – out last month – and Aladdin, due in May.

The original animated Lion King – loosely inspired, of course, by Shakespeare’s Hamlet – was released in 1995 and is one of the studio’s most iconic releases of all time.

It took just under $1 billion at the box office worldwide, with the likes of Matthew Broderick, Jeremy Irons, Moira Kelly, Nathan Lane and Ernie Sabella in the cast.

This new remake also boasts Alfre Woodard, John Oliver, Amy Sedaris, Florence Kasumba, Eric Andre, and Keegan-Michael Key.

The Lion King is released on July 19.
