Speaking to CNBC, Paul Dergarabedian – senior analyst at Comscore – said: “If anything this scandal is only serving to ratchet up the level of conversation related to the film and raising the awareness of it to even higher levels.”

Dan Hill, CEO of PR firm Hill Impact, told the US publication that the incident is an “opportunity” for the film-makers.

“I think these are opportunities for companies to show their character in a way that maybe the public isn’t used to seeing,” he said.

“It’s an opportunity for Disney, which tends to be very buttoned up, to have some fun.”
